GESP poject results: Stories and educational resources for gender-inclusive sport

27.03.2025.

By the end of January 2025, the GESP project entered its final stage with key results completed and publicly shared, marking a significant step in the collective effort to promote gender equality in sport. As the coordinating organization, we led the development and delivery of several core outputs that aimed to promote gender equality in sport through education, storytelling, and institutional support.

One of the most visible and impactful results of the project was the podcast series “Breaking Barriers: Women in Sport/GESP” Developed and hosted by KI, the series featured 30 episodes with athletes, coaches, referees, journalists, and professionals from across Europe, representing a wide range of sports, including football, volleyball, basketball, handball, judo, taekwondo, swimming, aikido, dance, and flag football.

The conversations explored both personal and professional challenges faced by women in sport—covering topics such as leadership, visibility, mental health, dual careers, and cultural expectations. Each episode offered a unique voice and highlighted the diversity of experiences across grassroots and elite-level environments.

In addition to the podcast, KI coordinated, in the cooperation wiht partners organisation, PEL (North Macedonia) and AF Braganca (Portuagal) the creation of two practical educational resources:

These materials provide concrete guidance and recommendations for individuals and institutions looking to adopt more inclusive and gender-sensitive practices. Topics covered include unconscious bias, inclusive coaching, athlete support, and organizational policy. Both resources were developed collaboratively with partner input and have been translated into all project partner languages to ensure accessibility and broader use in local contexts.

Through this work, Knowledge Infusion has contributed to a growing ecosystem of open-access tools and narratives that support gender equality in sport — not only in theory, but in everyday environments where culture and practice meet.

As the project moved into its final reporting stage in early 2025, all deliverables were shared with local stakeholders, sports clubs, and public bodies, encouraging ongoing use and dissemination of the results.
